Albany's Alissa Gibbs (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and Alexis Bowens (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) earned America East Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, while Hartford's Danielle Scoggin (Las Cruces, N.M./Onate) received Setter of the Week honors for the second consecutive week on September 16.
Gibbs was named to the Bucknell Invitational all-tournament team after averaged 3.23 kills and 3.23 digs in 13 games played last weekend. She posted a double-double in all three matches, including 14 kills & 14 digs vs. Bucknell, 11 kills & 15 digs vs. LaSalle, and 17 kills & 13 digs vs. Quinnipiac. Gibbs became the sixth player in school history with 1,000 career kills (1,053), and moved to ninth in career digs with 769.
Bowens averaged 3.15 kills, 1.54 digs and 0.62 blocks in three matches at the Bucknell Invitational. She posted 10 kills, 7 digs & 3 blocks in the win over Bucknell, a team-high 15 kills and 8 digs in a five-game, come-from-behind win over LaSalle, and 16 kills, 5 digs and 4 blocks in the loss to Quinnipiac. Bowens is tied with Alissa Gibbs for the team lead in season kill average at 3.53 per game.
Scoggin wins the award for the second week in a row after handing out 130 assists in three matches as the Hawks went 2-1 at the Iona Invitational. The senior posted a season-high 60 assists in a 3-2 victory over Niagara on September 13 in the first round of the tournament. Scoggin also recorded 26 assists in a 3-0 loss to Iona and notched 44 assists in a 3-0 victory over Dartmouth in the final day of action at Iona. The senior leads the Hawks in assists (323) and assists per game (11.14).
