Five Honored With Baseball Weekly Awards

Sophomore third baseman Ron Acabbo (Bethany, Conn./Notre Dame) of Hartford, sophomore pitchers Steve Emmerthal (Jewitt City, Conn./St. Bernard) of Albany and Mike MacDonald (Camden, Maine/Camden-Rockport) of Maine and rookie pitcher Jonathan Lewis (Queens, N.Y./Francis Lewis) of Stony Brook and rookie first baseman Ryan Cuscovitch (South Windsor, Conn./East Catholic) of Hartford were honored by America East on May 13.

Acabbo was the America East Player of the Week after helping the Hawks take 3-of-4 from Vermont. Acabbo hit .357 on the week with three doubles, a home run and four RBI. He now has a school-record 19 doubles this season.

Emmerthal and MacDonald shared America East Pitcher of the Week honors. Emmerthal fired a three-hit complete game shutout with seven strikeouts in the 6-0 win at Binghamton Saturday. MacDonald pitched a two-hit complete game shutout with four strikeouts and four walks in a 1-0 win over Stony Brook Saturday.

Lewis and Cuscovitch were America East Rookie of the Week honorees. Lewis pitched a three-hit, complete game in a 3-1 win at Maine Saturday. He struck out five and walked three. Cuscovitch hit .333 for the week and had a two-run homer, a three-run homer and a two-run single in his final three at-bats as the Hawks erased a 6-0 deficit and defeated Vermont 10-6 on Sunday.
