Beck, Lewis, Miller Garner First Baseball Honors

Northeastern senior Ben Beck (South Portland, Maine/South Portland), Stony Brook freshman Jonathan Lewis (Queens, N.Y./Francis Lewis) and Vermont freshman Derek Miller (Pelham, N.H./Pelham) were named Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, respectively, by America East on April 3.

Beck has led the Huskies out of the gate at 9-2. The outfielder leads America East with a .490 average and has six doubles, two triples, two home runs and 20 RBI in 11 games. He has a .816 slugging percentage and has hit safely in 10 of 11 games.

Lewis has been the staff ace, going 3-1 with a 2.45 earned run average and 32 strikeouts in 25.2 innings. In his most recent outing, he allowed one earned run in six innings while striking out 10 in a 7-4 win at San Francisco to run his unbeaten streak to three games.

Miller is 2-0 with a 2.53 earned run average in four appearances. Miller, who missed all of last season due to a ruptured spleen secondary to mononucleosis, had a UVM rookie record 14 strikeouts in a 2-1 win over Yale on Friday allowing four hits in eight innings. It was his second 10+ strikeout performance of the season. He has 34 strikeouts in just 21.1 innings of work.
