Rookie shortstop Jamie Haas (Houston, Texas/Klein) of Boston University wins the America East Player of the Week for the third time this season. She was joined by rookie Jenna Merchant (Sandy, Utah/Jordan) of Maine, the America East Pitcher of the Week, and Boston University pitcher/center fielder Julie Henneke (Philadelphia, Pa./Sickles), the America East Rookie of the Week.
Haas hit .615 on the week (8-for-13) and handled all 17 chances at shortstop without an error as the Terriers went 3-1 and secured the top seed in the America East Championship.
Merchant picked up two wins for the Black Bears in her two starts last week. Merchant allowed just one earned run in a 7-5 win over conference-leading Boston University and pitched a two-hitter and struck out five as Maine won 1-0 at Stony Brook.
Henneke pitched a complete-game three-hitter in a 1-0 win at Maine in 10 innings in her only appearance in the circle. She also hit .266 at the plate.
