Player of the Week: Jessie Groszkowski of University of New Hampshire (Jr., M, Reistertown, Md./Franklin) earns this week's Player of the Week honors. Groszkowski recorded 12 goals and one assist in three UNH wins last week. She scored three goals in both conference games against Boston University and Albany to help the ‘Cats go undefeated in America East. Her first tally at BU gave UNH a 1-0 lead 28 seconds into the game and was the 100th goal of her career. Her second goal came during a five-goal first-half run by UNH that put the Wildcats ahead to stay. Against Albany, she scored goals within 2:30 to spark UNH’s run of seven consecutive goals to give the ‘Cats an 8-1 halftime lead. With UNH trailing 2-1 midway through the first half vs. Stanford, Groszkowski figured in five straight goals by scoring the game-tying goal, assisting on the go-ahead goal and netting the next three goals to give UNH a 6-2 lead. Her sixth goal of the game gave UNH a 10-6 lead and proved to be the game-winning tally. She also recorded five ground balls, two caused turnovers and three draw controls vs. BU. She followed that with two ground balls, one caused turnover and six draw controls vs. Albany and two ground balls, one caused turnover and three draw controls against Stanford.
Rookie of the Week: University of New Hampshire's Jess Burnap (Fr., A, New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) earns the Rookie of the Week honor. Burnap recorded 10 goals and two assists in three wins last week. She registered a career-high six goals and seven points at BU and followed that with four goals and an assist against Albany. With UNH trailing 4-1 at BU, Burnap ignited a five-goal run (in which she scored three goals) to give the ‘Cats a lead they would not relinquish. Her fifth goal of the game put UNH ahead 10-8 with 4:51 remaining and proved to be the game-winner. Against Albany, Burnap kept momentum in UNH’s favor by scoring four goals in the second half. Burnap also contributed four ground balls and one draw control in the game vs. BU and had three ground balls and one caused turnover against Albany.
Defender of the Week: Danielle Martin of the University of New Hampshire (Jr., GK, Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) is this week's Defender of the Week. Martin was 3-0 last week with a 6.67 GAA and a .556 save percentage. She went 2-0 in America East action against Boston University and Albany to lead the Wildcats to their first America East regular-season title. She stopped 18 of 29 shots in conference play to record a .621 save percentage and a 5.50 GAA. Martin reached double figures in saves for the seventh time this season with 12 stops at Boston University. She held the Terriers scoreless for a stretch of 22:34 overlapping the first and second halves and preserved UNH’s 10-9 lead late in the game by stopping a free position shot. Martin held Albany scoreless for 46:44, including the opening 28:51 of the second half.
