Rookie shortstop Jamie Haas (Houston, Texas/Klein) of Boston University, her junior teammate Robyn Horrick (Irvine, Calif./Irvine) and Maine rookie pitcher Jenna Merchant (Sandy, Utah/Jordan) were named America East Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Week on Monday, April 15.
Haas batted .647 in five games last week as the Terriers were 4-1. She hit safely in each of the five games, had five steals in as many attempts and fielded all 16 chances at short. Her three-run inside the park home run was the difference in a 5-2 win over Holy Cross and she added three doubles and a triple as the Terriers took three-of-four at Albany to remain atop the America East standings.
Horrick allowed just three hits and did not allow a run in two wins at Albany. She had 11 strikeouts in a two-hit complete-game 2-0 win over the Great Danes on Sunday.
Merchant pitched in all four games for the Black Bears last weekend and was 3-0. She allowed just six hits in 16.2 innings of work, striking out 11 without walking a batter.
