Picard, Grasso, Stutz, Izaryk Gain Baseball Honors

Junior designated hitter Alain Picard (Ste.-Foy, Quebec/St. Thomas Aquinas) of Maine and junior second baseman Mike Grasso (Albany, N.Y./Bishop Maginn) of Albany share America East Player of the Week honors announced Monday, April 15. Junior Anthony Stutz (Buffalo, N.Y./Erie Community College) of Stony Brook is the Pitcher of the Week while catcher Aaron Izaryk (Markham, Ontario/Markville) of Maine was named Rookie of the Week.

Picard hit .533 with two home runs as Maine swept Northeastern. He had a two-out, two-run home run in the fourth inning for the margin of victory in Game 1 (a 6-4 win) and added a two-out solo home run for the game-winning run in a 3-2 decision in Game 2. He had a hit in each of the four games and has now hit safely in all 21 games this season.

Grasso hit .609 (14-of-23) in five games and did not strike out in 23 at-bats. He had two doubles, a triple and a home run with seven RBI.

Stutz allowed four hits and one run while striking out seven in a complete-game 2-1 win over Binghamton.

Izaryk .444 with an RBI. He also caught three games including a 7-0 win by sophomore Rich Laganiere in Game 3 of the series.
