Player of the Week: Brian LaMastro, a senior attacker from the University of Hartford (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) earns the first America East player of the week award for the 2002 season. LaMastro started the 2002 season just like he did the last two, he leads the team with 11 goals and three assists after only three games and in the process became the first Hartford player ever to record over 100 careers goals and assists. He had his biggest game in the 9-8 league win over Stony Brook when he scored six goals and assisted on the game-winner to give the Hawks the win over the conferences preseason favorite Seawolves. He also scored two goals in the loss at Harvard and had three goals in the season-opening win over Marist on March 2. LaMastro is just four points shy of becoming the school’s all-time scoring leader, he is already the leader in career assists with 105.

Rookie of the Week: Steve Conlon, a freshman attacker from the University of Stony Brook (Rehobeth, Del./Cape Henlopen) is this week's Rookie of the Week. Conlon totaled seven points in two outings for Stony Brook, leading the Seawolves to a 1-1 record in conference play this week. Against Hartford, he led the Seawolves attack with two goals and two assists as he turned in his best effort in a Seawolf uniform so far this season. He followed that up with a two-goal, one assist effort on Saturday in SB’s comeback win over Quinnipiac. His goals got the Seawolves even on both occasions, knotting the score at five in the third quarter and the big one coming as he tied the game at nine with 3:22 remaining in the game. He now ranks second on the team in scoring with 11 points and is the team’s top playmaker with six assists
