Spalding Player of the Week: Binghamton University senior forward Sarah Cartmill (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) scored a career-high 35 points in Binghamton’s 78-72 win over Hartford. She was 9-of-15 from the field and converted a school-record 17 free throws. The 17 free throws broke the old school record of 14 and the 35 points tied the fourth-highest game total recorded by a Binghamton player. It marked the second time this season and fifth time in her career that Cartmill has scored 30 or more points in a game.
Spalding Rookie of the Week: Freshman forward Larissa Parr of Boston University (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire) averaged 12.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in the Terriers’ two wins last week. As BU secured its first winning season in seven years with their 80-61 win over Albany, Parr scored 14 of her 19 points in the second half. Parr was 6-for-6 from the field in the second half, and 9-for-12 on the game. In the Terriers’ 76-61 win over crosstown rival Northeastern, Parr had six points, four rebounds and three steals. Since moving Parr into the starting lineup seven games ago, the Terriers are 7-2. On the season, Parr leads the team in field-goal percentage (47.8%).
