Johnson, Barea Earn Men's Basketball Week Two Honors

Hartford senior forward Pierre Johnson (Glenarden, Md./Duval) and Northeastern guard Jose Juan Barea (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico/Miami Christian School) were named America East Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, on December 2.

Johnson came off the bench in the season-opener Tuesday (November 26) night and scored 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the floor in the win over Long Island. He added a team-high 17 points in the win over Delaware State Saturday (November 30). He shot 17-of-24 from the floor (.708) and had six offensive rebounds in the two wins. The 6-6 forward is second in America East scoring (20 ppg) and leads the conference in field goal percentage (.708).

Barea scored 20 points and added six assists in the Huskies' 99-75 win over Fordham Saturday (November 30) night. He averaged 19.5 ppg and seven assists per contest in two wins last week. The 5-11 point guard is third in America East scoring (19 ppg) and tied for the conference lead with six assists per game.
