Albany senior outside hitter Alissa Gibbs (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) takes home Baden America East Volleyball Player of the Week honors for week 10, while Maine first-year middle blocker Leah Guidinger (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan/Carlton Comprehensive) earns Rookie of the Week honors. New Hampshire junior setter Anne Davis (Groveland, Ill./Notre Dame) repeated as Setter of the Week on November 4.
Gibbs averaged 4.67 kills and 4.67 digs in six games played last week, recording a .274 hitting percentage. She posted 14 kills and 16 digs in a three-game victory over Binghamton (avenged a five-game loss on Oct. 8), posting a .360 hitting percentage and had four service aces. Gibbs recorded her 11th double-double of the season with a 14-kill, 12-dig effort in a three-game win over Maine on Nov. 2. She moved into fourth place on the school’s career digs list with 930.
Guidinger averaged 2.67 dpg and 3.67 kpg this week as she hit at a .273 clip. Guidinger had 22 kills with seven errors on 55 attacks, and also recorded 16 digs and three blocks. Guidinger had 15 kills with only two errors on 33 attacks for a .394 hitting percentage, lifting her team to its second America East win, a 3-0 sweep over Binghamton. In that match, Guidinger also posted six digs and one block solo. Against Albany, Guidinger had seven kills, 10 digs and two block assists.
Davis recorded 125 assists on the week and averaged 12.50 assists per game in three conference matches last week as the Wildcats extended their winning streak to eight games and moved into sole possession of first place in the conference standings with a 3-1 victory over Northeatern on October 29. Davis also added 14 kills, 28 digs and hit .300 in ten games this week.
