University of New Hampshire goalie Christine Buckley (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) and Boston University first-year student Colleen McClay (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) were named America East Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, on Monday, November 4. The awards were the final weekly honors for the 2002 season.
Buckley had a 1.00 GAA and a .882 save percentage in games against Boston College and Maine last week. She recorded double digits in saves for the sixth time this season with 10 in the regular-season finale, a 2-1 victory at Maine that gave UNH a share of the America East regular-season title.
McClay was the Terriers' best freshman performer, producing her usual strong play at center-mid. While she did not tally any points, McClay ably directed the B.U. offense.
