Boyer Named First Team Field Hockey All-American

New Hampshire senior Marcie Boyer, the 2002 America East Offensive Player of the Year, was named an STX First-Team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Monday (November 25). Boyer was one of four America East players honored.

Joining Boyer on the All-America teams were second-team choices Sarah Broderick and Fior Arrindell of Northeastern and third-team selection Tara Bedard of Maine.

Boyer was second in America East in scoring with 14 goals and nine assists for 37 points in 20 games (1.85 ppg) and led the Wildcats to a 12-8 record.

Broderick, the 2001 America East Offensive Player of the Year, scored 11 goals and added an assist for 23 points in 23 games. Arrindell, the 2002 America East Defensive Player of the Year, had six goals and 12 assists for 24 points in 23 games. Together the duo helped lead Northeastern to an 18-5 record and appearance in the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Chamionships second round, where the Huskies dropped a 2-1 penalty-stroke decision to Michigan State.

Bedard, who led America East in scoring with 11 goals and 14 assists for 36 points in 19 games (1.90 ppg), contributed to Maine's school-record 16 wins (16-3 overall).
