Albany first-year outside hitter Eileen Nicole Rodriguez (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) was named America East Baden Rookie of the Week, while Northeastern's senior outside hitter Lindsay Wagner (Beaverton, Ore./Westview) and junior setter Kristin Ursillo (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) were named Baden Player and Setter of the Week, respectively, on November 11.
Wagner recorded a match-high 20 kills on 34 attacks with just two errors (.529 hitting percentage) as Northeastern closed out its 2002 regular season with a 3-0 victory over Maine. Playing in her final match at Solomon Court, Wagner also added seven digs and a service aces for NU.
Rodriguez averaged 2.25 kills, 2.58 digs and 1.75 aces in 12 games played. She also posted a hitting percentage of .160 for the week. She now has 200 aces on the season and leads the nation at 1.85 per game.
Ursillo tallied 45 assists, six kills, six digs and five service aces in NU’s 3-0 win over Maine. With her five service aces Ursillo becomes Northeastern’s single-season record holder with 66, breaking Danyel Howard’s (1994) mark of 62. Ursillo ends the season with a conference-best 11.76 assists per game.
