Northeastern Falls in NCAA Field Hockey

Northeastern dropped a 2-1 (PS) decision to Michigan State in the second round of the NCAA Championship at Jordan Field in Allston, Mass. The teams played to a 1-1 tie through regulation and two overtimes before the Spartans advanced to the semifinals with a 4-3 win in penalty strokes.

Michigan State's Judith van Haeringen broke a scoreless tie when she scored off a penalty corner with 3:59 left in the first half.

The Huskies answered 1:29 later, when Dixon knocked in a rebound after Michigan State goalkeeper Christina Kirkaldy stopped Mari Creatini in front of the goal.

The Spartans out-shot the Huskies, 11-8 with Kirkaldy making 3 saves and Emily Roy stopping seven shots for the Huskies.
