Dieckfoss, Hocking, Payne Qualify for NCAA Cross Country Championship

Boston University junior Jochen Dieckfoss, who has won the America East Cross Country individual title in each of his three seasons, and senior Dan Hocking of New Hampshire have qualififed for the NCAA Men's Championship and Jennifer Payne of Stony Brook has qualified for the NCAA Women's Championship, based on their performances at the NCAA Northeast Regional at Van Cortlandt park in the Bronx Saturday (November 16).

Dieckfoss covered the 10,000-meter course in 30:27.3 to finish fourth. Hocking was next in 30:29.3. The top two teams from each regional plus the top four individuals not from one of the team qualifiers, advance to the NCAA Championship in Terre Haute, Ind. on November 25.

Hocking helped the Wildcats to a 10th place finish, the best by an America East men's team.

Payne covered the 6,000-meter course in 21:04.8 to finish eighth and qualify on the women's side.

The Boston University women finished seventh as a team. Jessica Iannacci was 24th to lead the Terriers. Leonora Joy of Stony Brook, (21:31.4), was 10th overall. Teammate Jackie Nunez (21:48.8) was 21st.
