Albany first-year outside hitter Eileen Nicole Rodriguez (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) was named America East Baden Rookie of the Week after breaking the NCAA single season service aces record, while Northeastern's freshman middle hitter Larissa Adomat (Houston, Texas/Westfield) and junior setter Kristin Ursillo (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) were named Baden Player and Setter of the Week, respectively, on November 11.
Adomat was the Huskies’ top performer on the week as Northeastern went 2-0 with victories over Albany and Binghamton, both on the road. Adomat averaged an impressive 4.57 kills per game, 1.29 blocks per game and continues to lead the America East in hitting percentage as she hit .406. At Albany, she tallied 19 kills on 41 attacks with just two errors (.415) and then had 13 kills with four errors on 23 attacks (.391) versus Binghamton.
Rodriguez broke the 11-year old NCAA single-season service aces record set by Morgan State's Kim Spottswood in 1991 (171) on Friday (November 8) against Northeastern, recording four of her nine aces on the week. She now has 179 aces on the season, leads the nation at 1.91 per game, and is just six aces behind the school’s career mark of 185. For the week Rodriguez averaged 2.43 kills and 5.29 digs in seven games played, and posted a hitting percentage of .173. She totaled nine kills, four aces and career-high 23 digs in 3-1 loss to Northeastern. Against conference-leading New Hampshire she recorded eight kills, 14 digs and five service aces.
Ursillo was the catalyst of the NU offense as the Huskies went 2-0 on the week. Ursillo had an impressive statistical week as she averaged 1.14 kills per game, 2.57 digs per game, 47.5 assists per game and 1.00 blocks per game. At Albany, Ursillo was just two kills shy of a triple-double as she posted eight kills, 50 assists and 11 digs. She also added six service aces and three blocks against the Great Danes. Ursillo is just two service aces shy of becoming NU’s single-season leader, as Danyel Howard (1994) holds the Husky record with 62.
