Boston University senior goalkeeper Matt Smith (Lanchester, England/Royal Grammar School) and New Hampshire junior back Brendan Hankard (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) shared America East Player of the Week honors while Boston University midfielder Jamie Johnson (Brisbane, Australia/Cavendish Road) was named Rookie of the Week. All honors were announced on Monday, October 7.
Smith made a career-high 13 saves as Boston University defeated No. 12 San Diego, 2-1, on Friday (October 4) night. He followed that with a four-save effort in his fourth shutout of the year as the Terriers defeated Binghamton, 3-0 on Sunday (October 6).
Hankard scored two goals, including the game-winner, as the Wildcats won their only game of the week, a 3-2 decision over Northeastern on Saturday (October 5).
Johnson had a goal and an assist as the Terriers went 2-0 last week. He assisted on the game-winner in the Terriers' 2-1 win over No. 12 San Diego on Friday (October 4) and added a goal in the 3-0 win over Binghamton Sunday (October 6).
