Maine senior Tara Bedard (Skowhegan, Maine/Skowhegan) and Albany goalkeeper Michele De Cuffa (Mt. Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) were named Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, by America East on Monday, October 21.
Bedard scored the game-winning goal in an overtime victory over eighth-ranked Northeastern and assisted on the game-tying goal by Rachel Hilgar in the first period. She leads the team in scoring with 10 goals and eight assists for 28 points.
De Cuffa made her first career collegiate start against Colgate on Wednesday (Oct. 16) and recorded a shutout despite playing during the Nor'easter that drove through the area last week. De Cuffa totaled seven saves in picking up her first win of her career. In her second start, she gave up three goals, but made 18 saves while facing 29 shots in 67 minutes in a 3-0 loss to Cornell. Cornell had beaten No. 14 Virginia the previous day.
