Vermont junior T.J. Sorrentine, who last season was named the winner of the Kevin Roberson Award, given to the America East Player of the Year, has been named a preseason Mid-Major All-America by CollegeInsider.com. The announcement was made Wednesday, October 16.

The 5-11 point guard became the third sophomore in conference history to win Player of the Year honors, joining Speedy Claxton, now with the San Antonio Spurs, and Reggie Lewis, the captain of the Boston Celtics at the time of his death in 1993. Sorrentine led America East in scoring (18.8) and was third in assists and steals in 2001-02. He added 90 three-pointers, third on the conference single-season list and led the Catamounts to a school-record 21 wins (21-8 overall).

He is one of six underclassmen named to the 21-player All-America team.
