America East Announces Baden Week Seven Honors

New Hampshire's Alyson Coler (Monte Soreno, Calif./Los Gatos) repeated as Baden America East Player of the Week, while Binghamton's Glorimar Ortega (Naranjito, Puerto Rico) received Baden Rookie of the Week and Northeastern's Kristin Ursillo (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) garnered Baden Setter of the Week honors on October 15.

Coler posted 69 kills and owned a .287 hitting percentage in three matches this week, including a career-high and school record 38 kills vs. Northeastern on Oct. 8. Her kill total in the Northeastern match was the second highest total in all of Division I volleyball this year. Coler averaged 5.75 kills per game on the week and also added six service aces and 29 digs. Coler leads the ‘Cats with 383 kills on the year and is 103 kills shy of the single-season school record of 485 kills held by former Wildcat Beth Cole set in 1997. Aly ranks second on UNH’s all-time career kill list with 1079 kills. In the last two weeks, Coler has posted 105 kills in five matches and is avergaing 5.53 kills per game.

Ortega helped the Bearcats to a 2-0 week and sole posession of first place in the conference after posting 8.44 assists, 15 kills, 20 digs, and a .300 hitting percentage in wins over Albany and Maine. The first-year setter dished out a career-high 46 assists against Maine and also added a weekly total of nine blocks and five service aces as Binghamton won its first ever America East matches.

Ursillo paced NU’s offense to a 2-1 record on the week. Ursillo averaged 13.62 assists, 1.77 digs and 1.00 kills per game in the Huskies’ three games. She recorded back-to-back 63 assist performances against UNH and Stony Brook and added 51 in a three-game match versus Hartford. Ursillo also chipped in five total blocks.
