Terhune, Vanin Earn Spalding Weekly Honors

Spalding Player of the Week: Boston University sophomore forward Katie Terhune (Port Murray, N.J./Warren Hills) scored a career-high 35 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds in the Terriers’ 76-63 win over Northeastern. Terhune connected on 4-of-5 from three-point range and hit 11-of-13 from the free throw line to put up a double-figure scoring effort for the 15th time this season. The sophomore guard leads the team in points (19.6), free throws made (107), and free throw attempts (128). Terhune is also second on the team in steals (1.7 spg) and third on the team in rebounding (5.3 rpg) and assists (1.6 apg).

Spalding Rookie of the Week: Freshman forward Francesca Vanin of Northeastern (Amherst, MA/Amherst Regional) is this week's Rookie of the Week after recording a double-double in back-to-back games this week for NU, her second and third of the season. Vanin scored 13 points and pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds (10 offensive) to lead the Huskies past Dartmouth Thursday and help snap a four-game skid. She also added four assists and two steals in the contest. She scored three of the Huskies’ final four points down the stretch, hitting a jumper and a free-throw to help secure the victory. Vanin followed up the performance with a team-high 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in Sunday’s game at Boston University. She went 7-11 (63 percent) from the floor and a perfect 2-2 from the free-throw line. The freshman forward ranks third on the team in scoring and first in rebounding, averaging 12.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
