Senior forward Chris Brown (Boston, Mass./Scituate) of New Hampshire and first-year guard Chaz Carr (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) of Boston University were named Spalding Men's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week by America East Conference on Monday, January 14.
Brown recorded double-doubles in each of the Wildcats' games last week. The 6-4 forward had 15 points and career-highs of 16 rebounds and seven assists as the Wildcats defeated Army, 84-73 on Monday. He then added 21 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in the 80-78 win at Hartford on Saturday. Brown, who has double-doubles in each of his last five games, is averaging 13.9 ppg and leads America East with 9.8 rpg.
Carr averaged 14.3 ppg in three Terrier wins last week. He had a game-high 17 points with five rebounds in the 70-56 win at Hartford Monday, then added 11 points vs. Binghamton Thursday and 15 points and five assists vs. Stony Brook Saturday. Carr is 10th in America East scoring, and second among the conference's rookies, with 12.4 ppg.
