Albany junior midfielder Ashtian Holmes (North Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and New Hampshire forward Logan Lee (Racine, Wis./Washington Park) were named Adidas America East Player and Rookie of the Week for men's soccer it was announced September 10.
Holmes totaled four goals and one assist in Albany’s two matches last week, including the game-winner against Iona on Friday afternoon. He posted two-goal efforts in each of the contests. Both of his goals versus Marist came within a two-minute sequence late in the first half. Holmes entered the season with three career goals.
Lee scored the game-winning goal in UNH’s 3-2 double-overtime win over Georgetown to give the Wildcats their first UVM Smith Barney Soccer Classic title since 1997. His first career goal, in UNH’s victory on Saturday, gave the Wildcats a 2-1 lead late in the first half against Holy Cross. He was named to the All-Tournament team of the Smith Barney Classic for his efforts this weekend.
