Jordan, Truncale Share Spalding Player of the Week Honors

Spalding Co-Player of the Week: Stony Brook University sophomore forward Sherry Jordan (Stone Mountain, Ga./Clarkston) and Binghamton University senior forward Leah Truncale (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free) are this week's Spalding America East Co-Players of the week after both players had outstanding performances that led to undefeated weeks for their respective teams. Jordan tied the fifth-best individual game performance in Stony Brook women’s basketball history with a 30-point effort against UPenn in the opening round of the Holiday Inn Express Tournament. Jordan shot 13-of-23 from the field, and 2-of-5 from three-point range. She also collected 11 rebounds and seven steals in 38 minutes. Jordan’s point, rebound and assist totals are all season highs. In the championship game against LMU, Jordan recorded her second straight double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. She also had three assists and five steals in SBU’s championship win. Jordan was named Tournament MVP for her performance. Truncale averaged 19.1 points, 11.3 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in Binghamton’s three wins last week, including back-to-back 24-point efforts against Cornell and Air Force. She blocked seven shots against Cornell and had a career-tying 18 rebounds. She was named the MVP of the Air Force Tournament, marking the second consecutive week she has been a tournament MVP.

Spalding Rookie of the Week: Freshman center Danielle Hutcheson (Phoenix, Ariz./Greenway) of University at Albany earns Spalding America East Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 12.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in two contests last week. She is the only Albany player to tally three straight double-doubles since the 1995-96 season. Hutcheson totaled 14 points and 10 rebounds against Siena and 11 points and 10 rebounds versus Navy.
