Spalding Player of the Week: New Hampshire senior guard Heidi Plencner (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) was named Spalding Player of the Week. In UNH’s only game of the week, a 66-44 win over UMass of the Atlantic 10, Plencner led the ‘Cats with 17 points, going 6-for-8 from the field and 4-for-6 from three-point land. She also had a career-high six steals in the victory. She also added two rebounds and two assists. Plencner has now drained 16 three-pointers on the season and stands just six three-pointers shy of the all-time school record for career threes.
Spalding Rookie of the Week: Freshman forward Monica Peterson of Maine (Wilmington, Del./A.I. DuPont) was named America East Rookie of the Week after helping the Black Bears to a win over Fordham this week. Peterson grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in the win while also scoring eight points. She scored a basket in a 6-0 run that broke a 13-13 first-half tie. Her first basket of the second half stopped a 4-0 run that pulled Fordham within 29-23. Her second basket came with 3:20 left in the game when Fordham had pulled within five (the closest the Rams were the whole second half).
