Senior Errick Greene (Killeen, Texas/Belleville East/Kaskaskia College) of Maine and Chaz Carr (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) of Boston University were named Spalding America East Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, on December 17. It was the second time each player had received the honor this season.
Greene scored 45 points, pulled down five rebounds and had two assists and two steals in an overtime loss at Norfolk State Tuesday. Greene's point total is the second-best in UMaine history and the top scoring performance by a Black Bear vs. a Division I opponent. Greene had four points in a four-second span late in the game to set up Justin Rowe's tip-in with under a second to play to force overtime. The 6-3 point guard, who is averaging more than 38 minutes per contest, played 43 minutes vs. the Spartans.
Carr made the most of his first career start with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists without a turnover in the Terriers' 79-58 win over Dartmouth Wednesday. The 5-10 combo guard, who will likely see more playing time following the loss of Matt Turner (season-ending shoulder surgery), played a season-high 31 minutes vs. the Big Green. He is averaging 8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game while connecting on 44 percent (8-of-18) of his treys in nine contests this season.
