Voss, Wilson, Ursillo Earn Spalding Weekly Awards

Spalding Player of the Week: Maine senior outside hitter Leah Voss (Gettysburg, Pa./ Baltimore County CC-Catonsville) led Maine to three wins last weeks, averaging 5.1 kills/game and 3.5 digs/game, hitting .333 in three matches. She knocked home a match-high 21 kills and led the Black Bears defensively with 16 digs in a 3-1 win at Loyola College. In just three game against Hartford, Voss piled up a team-high18 kills and 10 digs and hit .412 for the match. She also chipped in with three service aces in the 3-0 win over the Hawks. On Sunday, Voss was solid again with 12 kills and nine digs as UMaine defeated Stony Brook 3-0. Voss has reached double digits in kills in all but one game she has played this season and she leads the team in both kills and digs. Last week, Voss took over the America East lead in digs.

Spalding Rookie of the Week: New Hampshire first-year outside hitter Bonnie Wilson (Moraga, Calif./Campolindo) continued her sensational freshman campaign last week by posting 24 kills, 20 digs and six service aces as the Wildcats went 2-0 vs. Stony Brook and Hartford. Wilson leads the Wildcats in digs with 2.82 per game and is second in kills per game with 3.37. Wilson had two solid matches against the Seawolves and Hawks. Against Stony Brook, she nailed down 13 kills and picked up four service aces and five digs to go along with two blocks. Versus Hartford, Wilson produced a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs.

Spalding Setter of the Week: Northeastern sophomore setter Kristin Ursillo (San Diego, Calif./ La Jolla) was NU’s top setter on the week with 2.0 kills, 12.5 assists, 2.2 digs and 0.1 blocks per game while hitting .212. She notched up double-doubles in both of Northeastern’s matches this week with 52 assists and 11 digs against Towson and 10 kills and 36 assists against Drexel. She has double-digit assists in every match this season and has recorded 11 double-doubles and a triple-double against New Hampshire on Oct. 6.
