Boston University defeated Towson, 1-0 Sunday to improve to 9-1-1 in America East and earn the top seed in the America East Men's Soccer Championship.
Hartford (8-2-1 in America East) is the No. 2 seed while Towson (8-2-1) is the No. 3 seed. Northeastern (7-4-0) and Hofstra (6-5-0) are No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. New Hampshire (5-4-2) earned the No. 6 seed with a dramatic 5-4 double-overtime win over Hofstra Sunday.
Hartford and Towson were tied in the conference standings. The teams tied during the regular season (head-to-head tie breaker). The next America East tie breaker is to compare the tied teams' records vs. the standings in descending order. Both Hartford and Towson lost to No. 1 Boston University. The Hawks and Tigers both defeated No. 4 Northeastern. Hartford, however, defeated No. 5 Hofstra, while the Tigers lost to the Pride.
New Hampshire travels to Towson for a first-round game on Wednesday, November 7 at 1 p.m. Hofstra travels to Northeastern for the other first-round game at 3 p.m. that day.
The winner of the New Hampshire/Towson game travels to Hartford for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, November 10. The winner of the Hofstra/Northeastern game plays at Boston University on November 10 at 7 p.m. that night.
The championship game will be played either Saturday, November 17 or Sunday, November 18 at the higher remaining seed.
