Hofstra senior Allison Barnett (East Brunswick, N.J.) and Towson forward Julie Lambi were named America East Field Hockey Player and Rookie of the Week for the final week of the regular season (ending October 28).
Barnett tallied five points this week (2 goals, 1 assist), including the game-winning penalty shot against Colgate and the tying goal against Quinnipiac. She also assited Watson's goal that tied the game against Colgate. Barnett ended the season with 39 points (12 goals, 8 assists) which should put her first in America East individual scoring.
Julie Lambi scored three second half goals to lead the Tigers to a 3-1 season-ending victory over the University of Vermont. With the Tigers trailing by 1-0 at halftime, she scored three goals in the final 28 minutes to lead the Tigers to the win. Lambi scored the game-tying goal with 25:48 remaining and had the go-ahead goal with 20:31 left. Lambi scored an insurance goal with 5:42 left in the game to clinch the win. Her hat trick was the first by a Towson player in an America East game since Lisa McCullen scored three goals in a 5-1 win over Hofstra in 1996. The Tiger's leading scorer with 10 goals, she broke the Towson rookie scoring record of nine, a mark set by Bev Nelson in 1979.
