Hofstra junior midfielder Shannon Watson (South Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) and Boston University forward Meredith Long (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) were named Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, by America East for the week ending September 30.
Watson had four goals and an assist as the Pride went 3-0 on the week, with two America East wins. Watson had both goals in the 2-1 overtime win at Fairfield on Tuesday and added two goals in the 3-1 win over New Hampshire Friday. She also assisted on the first goal in a 2-1 win over Maine Sunday.
Long moved from defense to attack this week and responded with two goals and an assist in the Terriers' 3-0 week. She had her first collegiate goal in the 5-1 win over Albany Tuesday night, then added a goal and an assist in the 3-2 overtime win at Towson Sunday. She led the Terriers with 12 shots during the week, including eight at Towson.
